SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah Quarters Country Club, an award-winning private club which is home to a newly-remodeled 18-hole signature Greg Norman golf course, doubled its club membership in 2006, capping a record year. The club, which is managed by Troon Golf, gained 135 new members last year, bringing the total membership to 380.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome so many new members in 2006,” said Vernice Rackett, membership director for Savannah Quarters Country Club. “The interest in the club on the part of community residents, local golfers and area business leaders has grown dramatically over the past year.”

By any measure, 2006 was a busy year at Savannah Quarters. Golf legend Greg Norman personally opened the remodeled golf course to Savannah Quarters Country Club members on September 7, 2006, which provided a boost that helped drive local interest in joining the club. Member involvement in various committees such as the Ambassador Team, which assists the club in identifying and sponsoring new members, and an active social committee, which helps plan club events, are also credited with helping attain membership goals for the year.

In October 2006, Savannah Quarters broke ground on a spectacular new golf clubhouse, which is expected to open in the fall of 2007. The clubhouse will serve as a signature amenity at this Medallist Developments community, which has been named a Premier Property by LINKS Magazine. The 29,000-square-foot clubhouse will have an open, airy feel accentuated by high ceilings and plenty of windows. The facility, which is projected to cost $7.4 million, will feature full-service fine dining, pro shop and outdoor terraces offering beautiful panoramic views of the golf course.

All club employees are enrolled in a special membership orientation program to better understand and deliver the ideal private club experience.
