SQCC Named Home Course of AASU

August 18th 2010 - SAVANNAH, GA (August 18, 2010) – Savannah Quarters COO David Cecchele and Armstrong Atlantic State University Athletic Director Andy Carter announce that Savannah Quarters Country Club (SQCC) will serve as the home golf course of the AASU Pirates. Head Coach Michael Butler commented, “The Greg Norman Signature Course at Savannah Quarters will both challenge and reward our golfers as they fine-tune their golf game. The Pirates are proud to call Savannah Quarters their home course.”
AASU’s men’s and women’s golf teams will play and practice at Savannah Quarters Country Club. AASU will host the 2010 Peach Belt Conference Championship at Savannah Quarters Country Club. As well, in the spring of 2011 SQCC will serve as the host site for the annual Pirate Invitational hosted by AASU and the inaugural site of the first Lady Pirate Invitational. Savannah Quarters Country Club and AASU have partnered in the past including hosting the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional tournament in 2007. Coach Butler will also teach his summer golf camps at SQCC.
SQCC General Manager Philip Linaugh commended the alliance saying, “This partnership provides an opportunity for Savannah Quarters and Troon Golf to further enhance the game of golf.” The SQCC/AASU partnership will provide additional opportunities for Club members, youth golfers, and the public to interact with and learn from the accomplished AASU golf program through clinics and tournaments. |
