Golf Inc. Names Troon Golf's President & CEO No. 2 on the 2010 "Most Powerful People in Golf" List

November 5th 2010 - Scottsdale, Ariz. - Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to recognize Hud Hinton, president & CEO of Troon Golf, for being named No. 2 on Golf Inc. magazine's 2010 "Most Powerful People in Golf" list. Ranked by Golf Inc. editors, the list represents 35 leaders who have the greatest opportunity to lead golf into the next decade. Editors considered those with "the power to impact golf courses through wisdom, prestige, wealth, ability or position," when choosing candidates for the list. After taking over as CEO of Troon Golf in January 2010, Hud Hinton retained his No. 2 position, which he shared last year with the company's founder and current chairman Dana Garmany. The accolade recognized Hinton's leadership of the world's largest golf management company and its growing worldwide portfolio."Being recognized by Golf Inc. as one of the 'Most Powerful People in Golf' is truly an honor," stated Hud Hinton, president & CEO, Troon Golf. Hinton is widely recognized as one of the hospitality industry's most experienced brand, franchise and third-party management experts. His experience in the hotel industry totals more than 25 years, and prior to joining Troon Golf in 1999, he was executive vice president, hotel operations, North America, for Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide. Previously, Hinton spent more than seven years as senior vice president, operations for Westin Hotels and Resorts. Earlier in his career, Hinton served as managing director of New York's Plaza Hotel and general manager of the Arizona Biltmore Resort in Phoenix, Ariz. The accolade comes just months after Golf Inc. named four of Troon Golf's general managers to its list of the "Most Admired Operators" list. Selected by a panel of 50 judges for demonstrating "consistent excellence in successfully directing operations at a golf course," were: Bill O'Brien at Maderas Golf Club in San Diego, Calif.; Rich Carter at Indian Wells Golf Resort in Indian Wells, Calif.; Archie Cart at Lake of Isles in North Stonington, Conn.; and John Kendall at Giant's Ridge Golf & Ski Resort in Biwabik, Minn. |
