On the Golf Course
|
From the Agronomy Staff 8.3.10
To relieve the wetter areas of the course, the golf maintenance staff is installing additional drainage. Drainage was added behind #8 yesterday and begun on #9 today. Continued drainage work will include #1, #3, #5, the practice range and other areas of the course.
To improve the drainage the sod is carefully cut away and meticulously numbered and protected for proper replacement. Trenches are dug and lined with gravel. Drainage pipes are placed and capped in the trenches and then covered with gravel and sand. These areas should play smoothly once the sod has healed. Because of today’s much needed rain there will be some yellowing of the removed sod. Remember, adhering to the USGA Rules of Golf regarding ground under repair, you are granted a free drop in areas of the course where repairs are underway. Major Aerification: August 9-10
