Savannah Quarters Officially Breaks Ground on Spectacular New 29,000-Square-Foot Golf Clubhouse

October 2nd 2006 -

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah Quarters, an award-winning master-planned community in Pooler, recently broke ground on a spectacular new golf clubhouse, which is expected to open in the fall of 2007.

The clubhouse will serve as a signature amenity at this Medallist Developments community, which has been named a Premier Property by LINKS Magazine, and will complement a newly-redesigned 18-hole golf course, which golf legend Greg Norman personally opened to Savannah Quarters Country Club members on September 7.

“This clubhouse will serve as the heart and soul of Savannah Quarters,” said Frank Weed, president and COO of Medallist Developments, who addressed approximately 50 Savannah Quarters Country Club members and dignitaries at the groundbreaking ceremony on September 29. “This stunning facility will showcase the very best of the lifestyle that defines Savannah Quarters.”

Foley Design Associates of Atlanta designed the brick and stucco clubhouse to match the community’s surrounding architecture with a mix of classical and Lowcountry influences. Group VI Construction, an award-winning firm that recently built Club Heron in Florida for Medallist Developments, will serve as the general contractor on the construction project.

The 29,000-square-foot clubhouse will have an open, airy feel accentuated by high ceilings and plenty of windows. The facility, which is projected to cost $7.4 million, will feature full-service fine dining, pro shop and cart storage for Savannah Quarters Country Club members.

The clubhouse restaurant will offer members a gorgeous view of the 9th, 10th and 18th fairways, while the back porch of the building will overlook an activities lawn where special events like golf tournaments and member parties will be held.

“Our new golf clubhouse will truly complete the club experience at Savannah Quarters,” said Philip James Linaugh, Jr., general manager of the Savannah Quarters Country Club. “This stunning facility will showcase the very best of the world-class resort lifestyle which defines our community and symbolize our ongoing commitment to delivering the ultimate experience to our members.”

The clubhouse restaurant will replace The Grill, which currently serves members lunch and dinner. The 22,239-square-foot main level of the clubhouse also will include a casual bar and grill for members, walk-up service for golfers and administrative offices. The 6,607-square-foot cart level beneath the clubhouse will store members’ golf carts.

“The golf clubhouse will feature a beautiful architectural design with plenty of Savannah charm,” said Linaugh. “It will be an elegant, comfortable building which is in keeping with the style and charm of Savannah Quarters. It really adds value to the golf membership.”
